BEIRUT - Six people were killed and 71 wounded by gunfire Sunday on the border between Lebanon and Israel, where Palestinian refugees remembered the Nakba'',''said a medical source.

Nearly a thousand protesters were heading to the Israeli border to mark the "Nakba" (catastrophe), or Palestinian exodus, the anniversary of the creation of Israel, despite Israeli warning shots.

According to Israeli Army Radio, the soldiers, who received strict orders prohibiting entry into Israeli territory, fired into the air first and then the legs of demonstrators.
